If you want to keep your trampoline usage safe, get a quality trampoline pad. Often, a jumper can get injured when they jump up in the air, but come down on the frame. These injuries can range from minor scrapes and bruises to broken bones and bruised ribs; either way, it's a serious concern.

You can keep these kinds of things from happening with safety pads. If you want a trampoline pad, you have to figure out the size of your springs. You'll typically find springs that are 8.5 inches in size on most trampolines. If this is the case for your trampoline, a 13-inch trampoline safety pad is what you're looking for. This pad will be wide enough to cover any potential gaps in the springs, so you will fid it difficult to miss the pad.

You have to consider chiefly how wide the trampoline pad is when making a purchase, but there are other factors to consider as well. If you're very worried about safety, the most crucial factor you should consider is thickness.

Choosing A Trampoline Pad

Often, you'll see trampoline pads with a thicker end to the frame, but as it gets closer to the springs it gets thinner. You shouldn't worry though, as the area near the springs doesn't need a lot of padding. The pad's primary concern isn't to protect from impact, just spring related issues.

However, it is a great thing for your springs to pad them for protection. While you can certainly be satisfied with a three-quarter inch thick pad, the thicker the pad, the more protected you'll be. The trampoline pad's material is another thing to consider when purchasing these important safety measures.

You can get safety pads for trampolines in either polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials. You can also find PVC in sign banners and similar objects. Compared to PE, UV rays and weather are much better handled with PVC. Plastic tarps are made of the material PE, another option for your pads. You'll get PE pads for a lot less money, but it won't be as durable or sun resistant. Both pads have their unique advantages. You may want to save some money, so you'll get a PE trampoline pad to cut costs. You'll have to get a replacement pad at shorter intervals, but they're so cheap it doesn't matter much. PVC pads are, however, the better quality trampoline pad. It also has a more appealing appearance than PE.

You also need to consider how the trampoline pad is attached to your purchased trampoline before buying it. Anything from Velcro straps to shoe strings are often used in the construction of various kinds of trampoline pads. Elastic bands that are thicker will give you the best hold. Very few people have had these straps fail on them. Velcro can often rip apart under enough pressure, and plastic clips are prone to breaking, so neither of those are good options.

Your trampoline needs to be 13 inches in width if your trampoline springs are the standard 8 1/2 inches in size. Any other kind of pad will do if your trampoline springs are smaller than seven inches. You should always get the thickest pad possible, and choosing between PE and PVC really depends on whether you want to get the cheap option that'll be more prone to breaking, or the expensive, but high quality, option.
