No Wires Needed for Modern Trackballs

By

Just like most other cordless accessories, a cordless style of trackball costs more than a corded one. However, prices are still well within reason. Thirty dollars is the general lowest practical price point, with double that for models from well-known companies. That extra amount you pay on a higher model isn't just for the brand, but also for added capabilities, most commonly spare buttons.

Trackball mouse products that don't feel good with your hand clasping them will slow down and hinder your computer usage in all sorts of ways. Try to find one that feels like a natural fit. That includes not just the basic size and shape of the trackball mouse, but also size and placement of the ball within it.

Though small, the wheel used to scroll vertically is one of the important parts of any mouse, including trackball designs. It can be easy to overlook, but you should only invest in a trackball model that has this wheel placed in an easy to reach spot. Nearby button placement shouldn't interfere with its use, either.

A casually bought cheap model of trackball mouse will tend to have low battery life. This means that you'll spend a lot of time and money changing batteries more than you should. It's definitely worth paying for a better model, where the batteries will last ofr months at a time. Some thought on acquiring one that functions intuitively and transparently in low power situations is also helpful.

Most **cordless trackball mouse** products are designed for right-handed people, that being the dominant demographic. But this isn't true to the extent that left-handed users are completely neglected. It's possible to find a left-handed model if you spend a very little additional time shopping. Prices should be similar in any case.

Just as an internet-browsing experience is only as fun as the connection is stable, a trackball mouse is only as useful as its wireless connection. An unstable connection will prove to be disruptive and irritating. At best, you'll lose finely detailed cursor movements and clicks. At worst, you may have to wait for your trackball to re-sync with the computer again. Don't buy a product you'd have to tolerate this treatment from.

It's fairly rare for trackball mouse products to have their buttons on the top, although that's where you'd probably first look for them. Instead, designs tend to place buttons on the side, near your thumb. This makes pressing them simpler, and tends to reduce accidental button pushing issues. So give the side of a model an examination, as well as the top and front, before purchase.

Though useful, trackball mouse products don't replace all your non-keyboard interface accessories. Those who frequently make use of **computer drawing tablets** will likely prefer the touch-based interface for many activities. That doesn't mean that the addition of a trackball to your life can't still make other parts of computer use much easier, though.
