Advantages And Disadvantages Of Infrared Grills
By Jamie Fitch
Though they are only typically found in commercial restaurants, infrared grills are an amazing improvement over traditional grilling technology. Fortunately, this technology has now entered the mainstream market and is being incorporated into the newest consumer grills.
There can be a few obstacles to owning infrared grills, but they also have some excellent advantages over other types of barbeque grills. Before deciding if it would be a wise decision to purchase a grill that incorporates infrared technology, a person needs to carefully research and weigh the pros and cons of owning an infrared grill.
Following is a brief list of some of the advantages of owning infrared grills:
They Cook Fast - The fact that infrared grills can cook steak and other meats very quickly is one of the main reasons people are attracted to using and buying these grills. When you are hosting a large dinner party with a lot of hungry guests, this is a fantastic and very helpful feature. If you own an infrared grill, you can cook all of your steaks quickly, and you won't have to worry that some steaks are significantly cooler than others when you serve all of your guests at the same time.
They Lock in Juices - Because meats cooked on infrared grills turn out juicy and delicious, many people are more than willing to pay a little more for one of these modern marvels. It is the unique properties of cooking with infrared heat that makes these grills able to deliver consistently great tasting food. There are hundreds of tiny holes on the grill surface that allows the infrared heat to evenly penetrate the meat, instead on one huge open flame that engulfs the food on a traditional grill. Instead of shriveled and dried up meat, this cooking method produces savory meats that still retain their natural juices.
They Deliver Restaurant-Quality Steaks - Instead of have to go to a restaurant and pay high prices for a steak, people who have infrared grills can cook steaks as well as their favorite restaurant, if not better. Buy cooking their own great steaks at home instead of having to visit an expensive restaurant every time they get the craving for a quality steak, people can quickly recoup the upfront cost of their infrared grills.
Disadvantages of Infrared Grills
Let's look at a few disadvantage of owning these types of grills:
They Can Be Expensive - A typical, traditional grill usually costs good deal less than a grill that uses infrared technology. Of course, other types of grills simply do not have anything similar to the technological advancements of infrared grills, and that is why they cost a little more. Unfortunately, many people who really would like to have an infrared grill, still may not be able to afford one.
They Aren't Usually Portable - One thing most people like, and even expect, in a traditional grill for the home is that it can easily be moved from one place to another. Unfortunately, the manufacturers of infrared grills do not generally make them to be mobile, and this can be a problem for some people. For many infrared grills, they are most likely going to have to remain wherever they are initially placed or installed.
They Are Difficult To Repair - It is not always easy to find a qualified repair person for infrared grill maintenance because, until recently, these grills have only been used in restaurants. Furthermore, because there is not an abundance of repair persons who have the expertise to work on infrared grills, even if you find one, he or she may be rather expensive to hire.
