Dog Training Equipment
58Are you looking for dog training equipment? If you want to teach your
best friend to do tricks or perform functions through instruction,
start your dog training immediately. Dog training can range from
regular activities like sitting, standing, rolling over or lying down,
to complicated and practical duties like guarding, retrieving or
tracking. If you train your dog, it'll result in making them less
confrontational and safe to show to other people to boot.
Basically,
your dog will not be capable of learning what you want naturally, so
you have to put them through training. When training your dog, you have
to take on the challenge of being able to convey to it what you want it
to do so it comprehends. One effective way to do this is to give him
positive reinforcement when he does well, and punishing him when he
does something bad. There are some essential dog training items you
should have prior to starting dog training:
Proper Items For Dog Training
Before you do anything, you absolutely have to get a
leash and a dog collar in order to properly handle your dog. Give your
dog the collar to begin with. He will likely try to stratch it off
initially. Don't concern yourself, as this is completely normal. Give
your dog a little time to get used to their collar, and then attach the
leash to it, but don't hold the other end at first. Allow your dog to
accustom itself to the leash, so that it can know that they're not
there to hurt it. As soon as it is visible comfortable with both leash
and collar you can grip the opposite end and start walking him. Dogs
will have a natural resistance to confinement and control, so don't be
alarmed when it pulls on the leash. Reward not pulling on it with a
treat or other form of positive reinforcement. With the leash and
collar, you can command his movement and maintain control of your pet.
It's possible your dog will be angry at you for a short period of time
for taking away his freedom, he'll get used to it over time. These are the basic items for dog training equipment.
You
can use a clicker to great effect during dog training. A clicker is a
compact device that can emit different, intense sounds that can
compliment or punish your dog. Clickers are great to use if you don't
want to lose or strain your voice but still want to discipline your
dog. Clickers work well for dogs if you combine it with associative
reinforcement. As you start giving orders to your dog, click the device
once if he does well, and give him some sort of reward. If he does
poorly however, click the device two times and skip the treat to let
the dog know you don't like it. If you keep repeating this series of
reinforcements, he'll eventually just respond to the clicker and
realize what response to your order would work.
Be sure to
stock up on the treats, so your dog gets a reward for good behavior!
You'll quickly see that dogs can be very influenced by the prospect of
food rewards, which makes it a great training method. Keep in mind,
that he shouldn't have a treat for performing badly. Proper dog training equipment can greatly benefit your teaching methods.
